Suikoden IV for PS2 is a role-playing game and the fourth main entry in the Suikoden series. The game is set in the Island Nations, a region separate from previous Suikoden settings, and follows the story of a young protagonist who becomes cursed by the Rune of Punishment, a powerful but dangerous rune. Players gather a group of 108 characters known as the Stars of Destiny to build alliances, uncover political intrigue, and confront an impending threat to the islands. Suikoden IV features naval battles, a world map that players explore by ship, and a combat system with up to four characters in battle. Although the game retains the series' signature elements, it was met with mixed reception due to changes in gameplay and pacing.
